Most of the common questions are answered
on our FAQs
page. We recommend you visit that page first and then if you haven't found what you were looking for there, you can return to this page for extra information. If you are still reading then you are the real curious type, kind of like us. That's O.K. That's why we've provided this page just for you detail-oriented people. Auriculotherapy is based on Chinese Accupuncture which is approximately 2,200 years old. The West's investigation of accupuncture began in approximately 1956 when a frenchman named Dr. Nogier began researching the validity of accupuncture as it pertained to the ear. He was the first one to come up with a somatotopic map of the human body upon the external ear. He determined that one could find points in the human ear that corresponded to the rest of the body. He found that there was a distinctive pattern to these points that resemble an inverted fetus. In the United States, auriculotherapy has been used to break drug addictions since at least 1973. At about that same time, researchers at UCLA began to investigate the merits of auriculotherapy in diagnosing patients with skeletal pain. The first double blind test was performed in 1980 that proved auriculotherapy was successful in alleviating pain experienced by a group of dental patients. So as far as the western hemisphere is concerned, we have been studying auricular therapy for approximately 60 years. During this time, various protocols have been developed to treat numerous conditions. While our smoking cessation program has been our most popular, we also offer other programs including our weight loss program. |
